Our Work within the UK

We are thrilled to announce that our initiative, aimed at providing essential support to asylum seekers residing in hotels during Ramadan, has been ongoing since its commencement on 18/03/3024. Our primary focus remains ensuring that these individuals receive nourishing meals during this sacred month.
As we continue on this journey, we express immense gratitude to everyone who has contributed to making this initiative possible. Special thanks go to Mr. Kamran, from EMT Company, whose generous donation has sustained our efforts thus far. Additionally, heartfelt gratitude is extended to Mr. Madany for providing us with a place for cooking, and to Mr. Ibrahim for generously donating his time and culinary skills to prepare the meals.

Our initiative has already made significant strides at Staycity in Manchester, where we began on 18/03/2024, and we are steadfast in our commitment to extending support to numerous other hostels across Greater Manchester throughout Ramadan. However, we recognize that achieving this goal requires collective effort.

On the 27th of Ramadan, the Solidarity & Support Organization continued delivering hot meals to asylum seekers and homeless individuals staying at hotels during Ramadan, as part of their ongoing efforts to provide assistance and support during the holy month. Amidst our efforts, we remain acutely aware of the plight of our Sudanese people, both within our home country and in the Diaspora. Witnessing the suffering of our fellow citizens compels us to redouble our commitment to humanitarian aid. As Ramadan draws to a close, our focus shifts to post-Ramadan initiatives, where we aim to explore new avenues for delivering essential aid to alleviate the hardships faced by those in need.

We invite anyone who shares our passion for making a positive impact to join us in this endeavor. Your donations, whether big or small, directly impact the lives of those in need. Every contribution counts and enables us to continue providing vital assistance to asylum seekers during this challenging time.

Thank you for your unwavering support and solidarity.

The Solidarity & Support Organisation , in collaboration with the Banana Box Toy project (BBTPO) [www.spiritofchristmas.org], has supplied educational play toys for children aged one to eleven in Doncaster. These toys aim to foster learning and enhance social skills development among children. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to BBTPO for their outstanding efforts and the valuable gifts that have brought joy to the children and their families. We look forward to continued cooperation between SSO and BBTPO in future projects.

The Solidarity & Support Organisation has initiated a clothing and accessory collection drive, gathering donations to aid new asylum seekers recently arrived in the UK. Alongside used phones and monetary contributions from SSO members, we visited three hotels in London: London Seven Kings, Best Western Hotel, and Continental Hotel. Our aim is to extend this assistance to other hotels housing asylum seekers in need of support.

Challenges:
We are encountering challenges in finding suitable community spaces in Doncaster. Currently, we rely on one individual's home as a collection point during emergency situations. Additionally, securing funds for trips to London or other hotels presents financial obstacles. We appeal to civil society organisations to assist us in providing aid to those in need. We extend our gratitude to all who have contributed to this initiative.

Expanding our efforts, we have launched an initiative to provide clothing and accessories for new asylum seekers in Sheffield, specifically Lawrence Field Apartments. Our goal is to extend this assistance to all hotels accommodating new asylum seekers in the near future. We express our heartfelt appreciation to all who have donated financially and morally to support refugees and asylum seekers, particularly the Sudanese community in Doncaster and Barnsley.

The SSO has provided clothing, shoes, belts, and other essentials to new arrivals at the Crown Plaza Hotel in London.

Our volunteer team distributed clothing, blankets, mobile phones, and food items to Sudanese refugees, including young men and a family of six children who arrived in the UK by boat seeking asylum. They are currently housed in London hotels, awaiting immigration status updates, with limited access to provisions and public funds.

Our Services within the Sudan

We firmly believe that humanitarian aid serves as a beacon of hope in times of adversity, offering a lifeline to those grappling with the devastating effects of disasters and conflicts. By providing essential assistance and support, humanitarian aid plays a pivotal role in alleviating the immense suffering endured by vulnerable individuals and communities.

In the wake of natural disasters, such as earthquakes, hurricanes, and floods, humanitarian aid provides vital relief in the form of emergency shelter, clean water, food supplies, and medical assistance. These immediate interventions not only address the urgent needs of survivors but also help prevent the outbreak of secondary crises, such as disease outbreaks and malnutrition, which often accompany large-scale disasters.

Similarly, in conflict-affected regions, humanitarian aid serves as a crucial lifeline for civilians trapped in the crossfire, fleeing violence, or displaced from their homes.

By delivering protection, emergency healthcare, and essential supplies, humanitarian organisations mitigate the impact of conflict on vulnerable populations, offering them a glimmer of hope amidst the chaos and devastation.

Moreover, humanitarian aid goes beyond mere assistance; it embodies the principles of compassion, solidarity, and humanity. It reaffirms our collective responsibility to uphold the dignity and rights of every individual, irrespective of their circumstances or background. Through humanitarian aid, we stand in solidarity with those facing adversity, offering them support, empathy, and the promise of a brighter tomorrow.

In essence, humanitarian aid is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and our capacity for compassion and kindness. It embodies our unwavering commitment to alleviating suffering, promoting peace, and building a more equitable and compassionate world for all.

The chair of the Organisation of Sudanese Human Rights Abroad expressed gratitude to the Solidarity & Support Organisation (British) for sending humanitarian aid to refugees in the Nefasha camp, Sudan, including the Muqwama children and elderly. The aid will be distributed fairly and satisfactorily.

The Solidarity & Support Organisation , in collaboration with the Organisation of Sudanese Human Rights Abroad and under the Sudanese Red Crescent, distributed Eid ul Adha necessities at the Al-Khattana camp in Khartoum state, successfully providing food items to the refugee community.

South Sudanese refugees in Sudan face vulnerabilities due to instability and limited resources. The Solidarity & Support Organisation and its partner assessed needs in camps, starting with Natasha Camp in West Omdurman, providing meals to vulnerable individuals. While the initiative faced donor shortages, assistance is still needed.
